Cabernet Sauvignon

Of the six vintages of wine we have produced, we felt that only one merited the designation Reserve; that was the 2005 Lock Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

That wine was so extraordinary that we decided to age it an additional twelve months and release or first ever Écluse Reserve.

This wonderful wine can only be described as soft and voluptuous. The classic deep garnet color and inviting nose leads you to a bold, velvety richness that is highlighted by dense, dark fruit and hints of coffee and chocolate

Barrel aging for thirty months, plus an additional seven months in the bottle has produced an elegant, complex wine that is perfectly balanced with flavors that march through to a long, lingering finish.

So supple and lush you will be left wishing for more!

2007 Écluse “PRELUDE”

50% Roussanne - 50%Marsanne

Our Prelude can only be described as the perfect marriage of these two wonderful varietals. The fruity characteristic of the Marsanne with its flowery nose and richness compliment the crisp acidity of the Roussanne. The wine is dry and displays a lush nutty flavor with hints of almond, melon, herb and floral components. This wine is a perfect "Prelude" for your summer bar-b-que or enjoy it with a cheese platter at the end of a scrumptious meal!

2006 Écluse SYRAH

Lock Vineyard

Our 06 Syrah continues the tradition of our gorgeous garnet colored, approachable and well balanced Syrah’s. Beginning with the inviting nose of fruit, spice and overtones of chocolate you are lead to a wine that is layered, complex and balanced. With a wonderful mid-mouth feel this wine is extremely smooth and finishes with layers of complexity and well-balanced tannins and acid. Extremely food friendly our Syrah shines with steaks and ribs. Though still a very young it will only get better!

2006 Écluse “RENDITION”

59% Syrah – 22% Grenache – 13% Mourvèdre

90 Points Robert Parker after two weeks in the bottle!

Because of the fabulous response to our first release we can only describe our 2006 Rendition as extraordinary! Anchored with our signature Syrah the addition of Grenache and Mourvèdre to this handcrafted wine brings forth the best of these three varietals. The meaty, dark fruit features and the rich color of the Syrah are married with the brighter fruit and color of the Grenache and spiciness of the Mourvèdre which produced an elegant rich wine that is perfectly balanced. Beautifully approachable from its nose to finish Rendition can only be described as fabulous!

2006 Écluse CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Lock Vineyard

Once again we have hit a home run! Our classically structured Cab from Lock Vineyard continues to highlight our wonderful fruit. Displaying our gorgeous ruby-garnet color you are lead to a nose full of blackberry, coffee and chocolate. The well balanced tannins and acid make for a wonderful mid-mouth feel. This wine is rich, bold and velvety smooth. Fabulous now, think of what you can expect in a couple of years – IF you can wait!

2006 Écluse “ENSEMBLE”

47% Cabernet Sauvignon – 35% Petit Verdot - 18% Merlot

This award winning handcrafted unique blend can only be described as a lush, supple and elegant wine. The fabulous nose invites you to explore the harmony of these Bordeaux varietals dominated by our classic Lock Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The incredible color is leads you to black cherry and currant overtone with the additional fruit and spice and deep violet and floral undertones brought to this blend by the Petit Verdot and Merlot. This years Ensemble has a wonderful tannin/acid balance and with its long, lingering finish leaves you wishing for more! Very approachable now but will show off its luscious style beautifully as it ages. If you can hold on to it for a year or even two you will be greatly rewarded.

2006 Écluse ZINFANDEL

Lock Vineyard

Our Zinfandel continues to be a huge favorite of our Ecluse fans - it’s Yummy! We strive to make a food friendly, fruit forward Zinfandel and this year we have truly hit the mark. Typical of Westside Zinfandel this Zin exhibits a rich and jammy full of fruit characteristics with hints of blackberries. Terrifically balanced this wine offered a great mid-palate and long luscious finish.

Enjoy this wine with steaks and/or a rich chocolate desert!
